JacksonHoleLive 2016: Year Five

Well music fans, it’s that time of year, when Memorial Day has kicked off the busy tourist season, the sun warms the cool mornings faster every day, and the sweet sounds of summer are fast approaching with the kickoff JacksonHoleLive on June 19th.  We are once again thrilled and honored to be able to bring another round of world class talent to Jackson Hole with The Revivalists, Galactic, The Record Company, and Shovels & Rope.  We also have the privilege of presenting the St. John’s Medical Center’s Centennial Celebration, featuring recent Grammy winners, The SteelDrivers on July 31st.

It’s going to be a great summer of music in Jackson Hole, and we kick it all off Sunday, June 19th with The Revivalists and Sneaky Pete & the Secret Weapons.  In case the talent isn’t enough to get you to make plans to come to the Snow King Ball Park, we’ll also be celebrating Father’s Day on the eve of the Summer Solstice with the 11th Annual JH Crawfish Boil.  There’s plenty of reason to celebrate, so leave the entertainment and food to us, and make plans to be at the base of Snow King beginning at 5:30pm.

As with anything, change is inevitable, so this, our fifth year of JacksonHoleLive, will see a few changes.  You may notice we’ve reduced the number of concerts from 6 last year to 4 this year.  In our first four years, we’ve learned a few things.  The shows that have been the most successful on all fronts have been those with the premier headlining talent (Robert Randolph, John Butler, Trombone Shorty, Old Crow Medicine Show).  Those events have almost double the attendance of other events, and are the shows for which JacksonHoleLive was originally envisioned and that we plan for on all fronts.  So, we’ve reduced the number of shows to reallocate production overhead toward talent to bring the talent level up to that level across all of our shows, not just one or two per summer.

The growth we’ve seen also creates necessary changes.  As we’ve grown, the scale of event we have to be prepared for has grown, and with that costs have increased.  We’ve made it this far as a series on the backs of our incredibly generous sponsors, and to them we are forever grateful.  However, for the permanent viability of the series that we have been and continue to work for, we simply can’t count on sponsorship to fulfill all of JacksonHoleLive’s production expense needs forever.  It’s time for our patrons to support the series beyond just food & beverage concessions and donations.  For this season, as you may have noticed in our recently launched promotions, there will be a $5 admission for adults, and kids 17 and under will remain free.  While we’ve tried to keep the series free, to give the series sounder footing for the long-term, this is a necessary step, and we appreciate your understanding.

We can’t wait to see you on June 19th!  Let the summer begin!
